Welcome to the John F. Kennedy Library Media Center
Come explore your library!
We have an attractive multi-level library with over 22,000 fiction, non-fiction and reference books. Additionally, we have a new multimedia lab with 40 computer workstations. All have access to the school district’s Digital Library, a comprehensive collection of professional databases and online services.
Our school’s Back to School Night in October and Open House in April are great opportunities to tour your child’s school library. Hope to meet you!
Take a look at our Photo Album for pictures of the library’s Teen Read Week, Banned Book Awareness Week, Constitution Day, and other events. Each May we have our John F. Kennedy’s Birthday Celebration Week, an informative and celebratory multimedia event that highlights the library’s many original documents about our school’s namesake. Parents and students are more than welcome to contact the library with their ideas and to learn of ways to become involved.
Library Notes
Advance Placement Online Courses in the Library
Kennedy has partnered with the Los Angeles Virtual Academy and Apex Learning to provide online AP courses in the library. These are rigorous courses taught by professionals with years of experience teaching the subject and helping students prepare for AP examinations. Students also have the opportunity to experience an academic course in an online format, a format that is increasingly popular with colleges throughout the country.
Courses offered are AP Physics, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, AP U.S. Government, and AP Spanish Language.
These courses are held in the library’s multimedia lab throughout the day. Students may also log into their courses from home or other off-campus computers. If your child is interested in taking a course, have him or her visit the library for an orientation. Parents are welcome to visit or contact the library for additional information.
