Principal's Corner

Welcome to the John F. Kennedy web site. Our goal is to provide the most accurate information about our school, the events that we offer and the various programs on campus that make JFK a great place to work and learn. I trust that the information you are looking for is available on our site. However, if you are unable to find what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to call me directly or send me an e-mail (richard.chavez@lausd.net). I promise to get back to you within 24 hours, if not sooner.

As you click on the various sections to learn more about our school, please know that we have a diverse student body and staff that contribute to our community in a variety of ways. JFK students are expected to complete 100 hours of community service prior to graduation.  In doing so, you will often find students and staff at community events and school programs. In addition to our rigorous A-G, College and Career ready program, we also have two unique magnet schools. One is focused on Architecture, Digital Design, and Film Making.  The second is a Gifted/High Ability Medical Magnet. Students living outside our school’s boundary can apply via our school for advanced studies program or, when available, open enrollment.

In addition to courses offered by our school, JFK students can enroll in college level courses offered after school on campus. Upon completion of the course, students may be eligible to receive both college and high school credit.

We are always looking for ways to showcase our students and programs, so please feel free to come visit our campus and meet our students. I promise that your time will be well spent.

Sincerely,
Dr. Richard J. Chavez
