We did not have journals Monday and Tuesday because we utilized every minute of class time writing our definition paper (What it is/is not).

    The Sniper

The journal entry for tomorrow will simply be to quickly, correctly, and efficiently answer the following questions regarding the short story "The Sniper":
    1. When and where is the story set? In what city? In what month? At what time of day? What is happening in Ireland at the time?
    2. What mood is created in the first paragraph? Write two words or phrases from the text that create mood.
    3. At this point in the story, what do you know about the sniper? Give 2 direct examples from the text and explain what they show.
    4. How does the sniper perceive the car? How does he perceive the old woman? Is this consistent with what we know about him?
    5. How is the sniper feeling after tending to his wound? Write one piece of evidence from the text to support your answer.
    6. How did the sniper trick his enemy? Why did he do this?
    7. How did the sniper's feeling change as he watched his enemy die? Why?

    Journal 9/17/15

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE WRITING YOUR JOURNAL ENTRY! Watch the video and answer the following questions: 1. Who is the main character? 2. What does he or she want? 3. What does he or she do? 4. What is the major conflict? 5. Why is that the conflict? 6. Is the conflict resolved at the end? Now summarize the story as you understand it. Finally, how did the story make you feel and why?
