Principal's Corner

Thank you for visiting the JFK website. It is with pride and a little prejudice that I say to you that our school has a rigorous academic program that provides students the needed skills to prepare them for the next level. With the support of our parents, teachers and staff, Kennedy High School provides students with a wealth of academic and athletic experiences to ensure that upon graduation, students are college and career ready.

Please take the time to learn more about our school by clicking on the various drop down links located at the top of our main page. However, if you are unable to find what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to call me directly or send me an e-mail (richard.chavez@lausd.net). I promise to get back to you within 24 hours, if not sooner.

As you click on the various sections to learn more about our school, please know that we have a diverse student body and staff that contribute to our community in a variety of ways. JFK students are expected to complete 100 hours of community service prior to graduation.  In doing so, you will often find students and staff at community events and school programs. In addition to our rigorous A-G, College and Career ready program, we also have two unique magnet schools. One is focused on Architecture, Digital Design, and Film Making.  The second is a Gifted/High Ability Medical Magnet. Students living outside our school’s boundary can apply via our school for advanced studies program or, when available, open enrollment.

In addition to courses offered by our school, JFK students can enroll in college level courses offered after school on campus. Upon completion of the course, students may be eligible to receive both college and high school credit.

We are always looking for ways to showcase our students and programs, so please feel free to come visit our campus and meet our students. I promise that your time will be well spent.

Sincerely,
Dr. Richard J. Chavez
